Kohala Coast Charters and Sportfishing in Hawaii

Meet the Crew

Captain Greg Kaufmann

Captain Greg Kaufmann

Greg Kaufmann has been a licensed USCG captain for 20 years, and has fished the Big Island waters for over 15 years. He has won several local prestigious tournaments and is on record for Hawaii's largest Sailfish in 2000.

His fishing career began in 1982 in Southern California’s Dana Point Harbor where he fished the waters from Newport Beach to the tip of Mexico. Greg continues to love fishing and in particular fishing the Big Island's Kohala Coast! Greg's 2nd love is diving. When he’s not fishing, you may find him on the Kohala Diver enjoying a few dives. Greg and his wife Rebekah own and manage Kohala Divers located on the mooring beside "Reel Screamer."

Captain Bob

Captain Bob Beach

Bob Beach was born in Kansas but was raised on sportfishing and commercial fishing boats in Southern California and Mexico.  In 2003, long time fishing buddy, Captain Greg Kaufmann, called Bob up and said “How would you like to start sportfishing with me here on the Big Island?" And Bob was on the next flight!  They have been having fun fishing together on the Kohala Coast ever since.  Bob also helps out on the "Kohala Diver" boat running dive, snorkel and whale watching trips.  He loves talking about anything water related – and if you are lucky, he might spin you a tale about “The Lost Dutchman."
