We have everything you need and the crew will coach you on what to do when the fish hits. There is often some patience involved even on a good fishing day so plan to have fun, relax and hope for some excitement too. Everyday is different and that’s part of the experience.

Yes. Its great when an angler is experienced with landing a fish. You can talk to the crew and learn what the catch has been lately. They are happy to work your favorite fishing technique if it makes sense for current conditions.
-
It’s a great family activity!! Our crew is very family friendly and kids generally love the boat ride and watching and taking part in the activity. Often we see dolphins, whales seasonally and other interesting marine life.
-
The boat ride, scenery and sea life encounters on the water are a big part of the fun so this is a great activity for groups with mix interests! You decide who the anglers are in your party and the rest can sit back, relax and enjoy the views. The Reel Screamer has multiple places to enjoy the scenery shaded or while sunbathing.

We don’t offer snorkeling from our fishing boat at this time. Our sister company Kohala Divers operates the beautiful 46’ Newton dive snorkel boat Namaka and is set up perfectly to accommodate snorkelers.

Every day is different when fishing and that is part of the appeal of the sport, its unpredictable. Our most commonly caught fish are ono, mahi mahi, kawa kawa, and tuna. We sometimes get larger bill fish and ahi. One day we might catch 1 nice ono and the next day 3 mahi and 6 ono and the next day nothing.
The crew wants to catch every bit as much as you and will do all they can to make that happen. Certain factors that affect catch are moon phase, currents, wind and a lot of luck. The captain is happy to discuss best time for your start time based on current conditions. Fishing is fun even on a slow day if you go in with an attitude of fun and Aloha.
-
When we are lucky and have a good catch day we are always happy to fillet one fish for you if you have a place to prepare it. It is the captains choice which fish to fillet.
-
The crew loves fishing so much they pretty much come to work for free everyday. Fish sales and gratuities is how they pay the bills and can keep doing what they love.
If you have a big party to feed or are providing fish for an occasion, they are happy to sell it to you at market value and will even fillet it at no extra charge.
-
Some places in the world that fillet all the fish and have facilities to freeze and ship it are often three times the price of Hawaii charter rates, that is not a custom on Hawaii fishing vessels.
-
We have great recipes on our website if you are staying in a home or condo with cooking facilities.
It is against health department laws for an island restaurant to prepare it for you so if you don’t have a kitchen or grill you may not be able to get it cooked elsewhere.
-
Siren sportfishing policy is to fish in an ecological friendly and sustainable way. If possible when a fish is caught that is not appropriate for human consumption, we will try our best to release the fish without harming it.
You can get pictures and it can be an exciting experience, but our intention is to respect the ocean and the delicate balance that allows a sustainable fishing future. This is important for our planet and is respectful to Hawaiian culture.

No, we handle all legalities. We file a fish report monthly to DAR so they can record fishing trends and manage fishing sustainability.

The maximum # of passengers can be 6 but many people enjoy the luxury of having a private yacht for yourself or with a couple of friends.
If you want to share costs with others we can put a request for that on our calendar and see if any others request the same then pair you up usually splitting the cost evenly. It will be up to the 2 parties to decide who reels in first fish etc. It has worked occasionally but most of our trips are private charter.

Let your crew know and they can try to keep you closer to shore and out of some of the rougher weather areas. In advance you can get a RX from your doctor for a patch. Kohala Divers sells seasick medication such as ginger shots, ginger chews, bonine, sea bads etc.
-
It is recommended you bring a light jacket, hat, sun protection shirt, refillable water bottle, reef safe sunscreen. All of these can be purchased at Kohala Divers across the street from the boat.
Also bring any food you’d like and BYOB for alcoholic beverages. We have juices, sodas, filtered water on board and coolers with ice for you to use.
